Les Perry and His Team Finish in Third Place in Race 3 of The Clipper Round the World Race

Les has made it! After three weeks at sea, living in confined spaces, some of the worlds worst weather and waves, 4,750 nautical miles and an intense race, he has finally set foot on dry land in Freemantle, Western Australia. Les was crew on the 70-foot Clipper “Imagine Your Korea” which finished in a respectable 3rd place after the mammoth race across the Southern Ocean from South Africa to Australia.

The race was very intense, with the first three places undecided until late in the race. 3 weeks at sea, huge waves, the unpredictable Roaring Forties, freezing temperatures and more danger, 3rd place out of eight teams is one that Les and the rest of his team are proud of, crossing the finishing line at 17.08.50 UTC on 25th November.

Wirral businessman, Les Perry joined The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race supporting and raising money for a local charity, Charlottes Brightside. Charlottes Brightside support children and young people in and around New Brighton on Wirral by providing a wide range of activities to positively engage them. To help raise much needed funds for this superb organisation, Les invited local businesses to buy a logo space on a double-sided flag that has been flown at every possible chance during his epic journey in the challenging yacht race.

There was a superb response for the flag and businesses and people who want to donate can still do so by visiting the Just giving page here – https://localgiving.org/charity/charlottesbrightside/

Charlottes Brightside

Charlottes Brightside is a youth club, based in New Brighton, Wirral who support underprivileged children from around the area.  The charity was established in 2011 in memory of Charlotte Churchill, a 19yr old young woman who passed away in April of the same year as a result of a tragic car accident.

Charlottes Brightside has very clear aims to help young people advance in life by providing a space for recreational and leisure time activities that improve their conditions of life  and by providing support and activities to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.

You Can Still Help Through Local Giving

Charlottes Brightside are raising funds for a brand-new enclosed Astro-Turf pitch, providing a safe, all-year-round area for the children to play on. For those wishing to donate, they have a Local Giving page at https://localgiving.org/charity/charlottesbrightside/ and welcome donations of any amount.

Your contributions will be gratefully received by Charlottes Brightside and go directly to improving the life of local children.
